Ancient lights ~

This Christmas…our Holiday table will bask in the glow…of the remnants of an ancient light…

On a visit to the Santa Monica Flea market…I picked up hand scripted…antique sheet music recovered from hymnals found in a 1790’s Spanish monastery. I wanted to work it in…to our holiday decorating somehow…and our Christmas table seemed the perfect place.

So replicas…of the sheet music…now wrap tall glass candle holders I had saved…the original wax long gone.

The (Latin) sheet music cylinder is trimmed in rich brown velvet and earthy twine…

…Sealed with wax…and stamped with a scrolled ‘M’…a gift set…my dear friend Janice…picked up on a visit to Italy.

I plan to have many of these…hand wrapped votive candle holders…in varying sizes…on our Holiday Table…echoes of a distant past. It’s the ‘Old World’ feel I’m drawn to and a small ‘take away’ …for family and friends who join us at Christmas dinner…
