This is our old pine cabinet that used to display our son’s prized Star Wars  Lego creations!

With a few fresh coats of Annie Sloan  Chalk Paint & wax, it’s now a my NEW entertaining cabinet!

I went with  Old White  because I wanted a clean and simple backdrop for my the entertaining

cabinet!!! Do you like it? The paint & wax had barely  dried before I started styling!

In..went my vintage  glassware, some of  which belonged to our beloved grandmother

Nettie! {La Famiglia baby! } I lined the pristine white shelves with my favorite ice cream and

candy dishes, some trimmed in gorgeous GOLD! OBSESSED!

My “OH Deer”  collection snagged the top shelf and I hung

a quick olive & bay herb  tassel made with clippings from our garden…for a little earth.

There is still a good size drawer to fill with my collection of cloth napkins!

Okay, my workmanship isn’t perfect and the DIY makeover wasn’t  without challenges.

Let’s see…I  badly nicked  the finished cabinet while putting back the shelves and had to basically RE-PAINT.

I  broke  a BIG glass vase while straining to see if I missed a spot  on the shelf underside.

Oh and I was on my hands and knees cleaning up paint splatters  that somehow managed to defy the

rather expansive drop cloth. In the words of Charlie Brown, “ARGH! “

 {Just keeping it real}

All  in all though, I’m pretty happy with my DIY cabinet makeover. The entertaining cabinet

is going ROCK during the holidays with so many cool pieces at my fingertips! Yay!

AND not bad really…for a piece I purchased a dozen years ago for a hundred bucks. I like how the details work

with our built in cabinets. {I have long  wanted to design & build a cool piece on this wall but

this will do just fine for now!|

BTW,  our son, who is a freshman away at college likes it too. Especially after I texted him this pic!

How could I not?  {The REST of his prized Star Wars  creations are boxed and carefully wrapped in tissue.}

Here’s his response ~
