When is a garden fountain, not a

fountain?

When it’s over flowing with…

herbs!

This small, two-tier fountain, while

pretty, required a lot of

maintenance…cleaning, refilling

and such.

Too much work!

And this, rather unimaginative corner of our

garden needed a dose of

inspiration!

So we started, by adding a little

hedge of

English box (love the pop of green) &

painting the ‘antiseptic’ white door a

French blue gray.

(Thank you Troy.)

Next, the guys, (Jefferson Landscaping ~ thank you!) pulled the

motor so we could convert the fountain into

an inspired…

container

garden.

Do you love it?

I do! It plays right into my

edible garden theme.

I can’t wait to see the

top fountain tier spilling over with

succulent alpine strawberries

and…

petite striped (YES striped!)

zucchinis.

Can you imagine?

The bottom tier meanwhile, is brimming with

fragrant & silvery curry…

sage, trailing rosemary &

thyme.

Naturally, I tucked in a few garden

accouterments because in my

world…there are always

accouterments!

A charcoal colored

small pot holds garden

twine and such.

A classic wood handled

trowel is at the

ready and petite mason jars filled with

votives, flicker as

evening sets in. The effect is

quite simply,

magical…

night light.

I framed this garden corner with

a wonderful columnar

apple tree.

So fun!

There is more work to be

done here, of course!

I’m on the look out for

something to lean up against the

stucco. A

trellis perhaps, maybe

a few larger, bookend Box balls and

decorative

gravel. I’ll keep you

posted.

But for now, the eye has

a nice place to

land

and our old fountain, has an

inspired new

purpose.

Still…a little water…

required.

Ciao,

Monica
