Petite pops
Any pretty party I throw, includes one of these little extras : a cool bite or as I like to call them, petite pops!
I typically serve them as palate cleansers between courses. A nugget of something sweet prepares your
taste buds for the real dessert.
This party go-around features a tangy frozen tidbit of pink grapefruit juice and prosecco.
The pink grapefruit juice is freshly
squeezed and then paired with effervescent prosecco and fresh thyme simple syrup.
It’s quite the lip-puckering combo. And what I love about this sweet treat is that it has to be done the day ahead.
When making my palate cleansers, these are my tools of choice. A plastic organizer tray and simple wooden picks.
As the citrusy mixture begins to set up in the ice box, I pop in the picks.
Once the cool treats are frozen solid, I then slip them into darling little bags and
pop them back in the ice box until I’m ready to serve.
Oh, one more thing…add a small sprig of fresh thyme to each pop for added pretty & flavor!
Here’s the recipe on my printable recipe cards!
Pucker up,
- 1 cup superfine sugar
- 1 cup H20
- a few sprigs of fresh thyme
- 3 tablespoons of prosecco
- 2 pink grapefruits
- small tray with divided sections
- wood picks
- Simmer the first three ingredients on the stove top, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Cool, strain and refrigerate. Squeeze the pink grapefruit.
- Combine 1 cup of juice, 1 cup of syrup and prosecco. Pour mixture into tray compartments. Add a leaf of fresh thyme to each tray. Freeze for 10 to 15 minutes or until the pops begin to set up and the picks will stand up in the ice. Freeze completely.
- Dip the tray bottom in warm water for a few seconds to loosen the ice pops then quickly
- slip them into fun treat bags. Pop them back in the freezer until it is time to serve!
