It’s an early morning Fall harvest in our Kitchen Garden and my French
basket is packed with garden goodness!
Ripe figs from the mini orchard and green apples plucked
from our espaliers.
Just a handful of string beans and a bag full of sugary ripe golden
yellow and red tomatoes.
Daisy Dukes and Burberry boots pulled on, I peruse the
garden that is until I am ambushed by our
sprinkler system which no doubt senses it’s nearly shut-off time.
I pick a bundle of fresh herbs ~ basil, rosemary, oregano, parsley and bay,
calendula to spice up salads and dahlias to perk up kitchen bouquets.
I’ll be making tipsy fig jam this morning and tomatoes and string beans like mom
used to make. I’m feeling a rustic apple tart coming on.
To be continued….
