It’s LILAC season, so this pretty perennial garden favorite is a thing right now.
Lilacs are putting on quite a show and they
can be intoxicating in more ways than one!
Sure, the icy violet, deep purple and white blossoms are gorge
and the fragrance is divine, duh…which is why I scatter casual arrangements throughout our home BUT
featured in a COCKTAIL…well, the lovely lilac is downright heavenly!
This Lilac Drop is the very essence of spring. It’s beautiful, aromatic and
so simple too…just combine a little lilac simple syrup {yes, lilac!}…
fresh citrus, vodka and a lilac hued liqueur and you have one crazy gorgeous cocktail!
Here’s my Lilac Drop How To:
* * *
Lilac Simple Syrup ~
1 cup sugar to 1 cup H2o
Add 1 cup of lilac blossoms { rinsed } and simmer on the stove top for 5 minutes, cool, strain, bottle and chill!
{Keeps in the fridge for a week!}
* * *
Lilac Drop ~
1 shot of good vodka
3/4 shot lilac simple syrup
1/2 shot of lavender hued liqueur {I used Parfait Amour but you can also used violet liqueur}
1/2 shot of freshly squeezed lemon juice
Rim the cocktail glass with fresh lemon juice and then dip it in lilac flavored sugar.
{Just a few blossoms mixed with granulated sugar!}
Place all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake and
pour the ethereal elixir into a vintage stemmed glass.
{This glass was handed down from my grandmother! Sigh}
Top it all off with a few scattered fresh lilac petals for a swoon worthy garnish and sip away on spring!
This just may be the prettiest cocktail EVER!
Cheers,
