Maybe….

it’s the promise of warm summer days spent on the water

but I have this whole ‘Sur la mer’ obsession going right now.

You know…starfish, shells & nautical maps..

with a French feel.

But I wanted to summon up even more seaside charm….

and our mudroom, seemed just the place.

The mudroom is a small, elongated bathroom/changing room off the pantry.

Stone floors, tile walls and a drain…the perfect place

for the kids to drop their wet towels, coming off the water.

Thought our mudroom could use a little carefree and

slightly French seaside vibe.

I started with this inexpensive

glass and metal ‘plug in’ pendant light.

I envisioned the plate mounted on the wall.

The bare wire, with a bit of swag

and the fixture, hanging from a simple, rustic bracket.

So I called Wayne,

our, THE fabulous woodworking craftsman…to see if he had time

to whip up a bracket.

Of course, I was hoping it would be weathered & gray!!!

He found the material I was after… in his ‘burn’ pile!

I also need a mudroom mirror.

This antiqued Aidan Gray number, caught my eye!

The walls & ceiling above the tile

are now painted, Farrow & Ball ~ French Gray!!!

And here’s the BRACKET,

Wayne whipped up!

Isn’t it cool??

Just the look, I was after!

Thank you Wayne!

Love the exposed wiring!

To me, this has that ‘roughed in’

& casual French, ‘Sur la Mer’ feel,

you might find

in a French, Seaside summer home.

Adore the exposed plumbing too…

Here’s the wide shot.

(’They’ said, I’d never find a sink, slim enough to fit the space.

HA!!!)

A small, wall mounted glass shelf,

holds soaps, shells & seaside sentiments.

Love this blue votive holder!

And more beautiful blue

against the mosaic glass tile back splash.

Now the mudroom has that

unfitted & slightly French, seaside vibe, I like.

My beach bag is ready…

a vintage style

nautical map…

for inspiration!

Bring on summer & the wet towels!

Let me know, if you want to get in touch with

Wayne…

Ciao,

Monica
