Memorial Day weekend always marks a color and decor shift at my house. That’s when I get a big case of the
SUMMER BLUES!
There is something so fresh & crisp about the CLASSIC blue and white combo, right?
So I get busy pulling together all of our mix-matched pieces of blue & white decor and I add a few NEW
pieces too. The timing is perfect for the Memorial Day weekend!
Stacks of blue and white dishware show up in the two-way glass kitchen cupboards I designed.
For me, things ALWAYS center around the heart of the home…
the kitchen…so I start with an easy tablescape for a Memorial weekend light lunch.
As if on cue, my garden hydrangeas have begun to bloom! I love pulling together
simple bouquets at our big white porcelain farm sink! {Still one of the best decisions I made when
I designed this kitchen!}
Love the big puffy poms casually arranged in a plain white vintage container.
Things always look better on a tray, so I add a few summery seaside notes
from my shell collection.
Rattan says summer to me too so I pull out our chunky square placemats layered on
a NEW runner. {Nordstrom} Big blue and white polka dot pillows add some fun to the mix!
For the glassware, I went with a variety of shapes and heights.
Succulent strawberries are afloat in sparking water. They add a pretty pop of red
and I usher them to the table.
For the fare, I kicked things off
with a simple but delish red, white and blue salad. Check out my tasty little
croutons! Oh yea, toasted angel food cake croutons! OH MY!
For added pretty, I sprinkle a few edible scented geranium blossoms about the salad…I planted one of
my garden containers with edible flowers ONLY! I’ll be be clipping flowers from that baby all summer long to
add to sips and bites. So FUN!
Bring on Memorial Weekend in shades of blue! I’m ready to celebrate!
More shades of blue to come…
