Been painting AGAIN! This time with Amy Howard One Step Paint in
Black which I picked up at Haley’s Cottage! (No sanding or stripping required!)
Our old china hutch/buffet combo felt SOOO dated! I have reworked it every which way…
popping off the doors & popping out the glass, hitting it with a touch of gold but
the combo piece was just too
limiting for me! So…I FINALLY, despite some resistance from the Mr. , popped off the entire hutch and
{It’s going upstairs & I may paint it white!}
embarked on a DIY buffet makeover! Here’s the BEFORE…well, almost…I got so focused
that I started painting the top before I even took an I-Phone pic! Sorry!)
After a few coats of one step paint, a little soft wax and a whole lot of muscle…
HERE is the DIY buffet makeover AFTER – in our rather sunny dining room!
I’m in love! The black drawers & burnished gold hardware combo works for me. The
worn gold adds a hint of glamour.
It reminds me of a smart double-breasted black suit with rich, shiny buttons. I only waxed the
top of the piece which gives it a sueded look. I left the rest of the buffet with paint only.
I of course, wasted no time and started styling the piece for fall!
{I can’t help myself…}
You know, when we built our home, I designed this niche to fit this piece. We’ve
had it for years, so I’m glad
I kept it and reworked it yet again. It’s a wonderfully large surface – over six feet. Hey, can you
just see a big, REAL magnolia wreath…
gracefully hanging above the buffet for the holidays…with a simple but beautiful silk bow?
Perhaps I’ll treat the new buffet to a little holiday sweets & candy bar. The pull-out shelf will give
me some extra space to play with. I like to play.
This makeover just might be cause for celebration :)
Thanks for dropping in on my DIY paint project!
