Silver Tequila & Lime ~

While taking part in a cool Twitter chat,

organized by Today’s Nest

(So excited to be asked! Thank you Sam!)

we arrived at the festive topic of,

 stepping up your

Cinco de Mayo celebration.

I suggested this:

 Margarita Pops

Silver Margarita Pops,

a grownup take…on the ice pop!

Great for Cinco de Mayo AND on those

hot summer days.

The Silver tequila keeps them smooth and

light. The combo of

freshly squeezed lime juice and

key lime juice, plus a little

tangy zest…

gives the margarita pops, that

real south of the

border kick.

Freshly squeezed orange juice

sweetens the deal,

a splash of Grand Marnier, well,

gilds the Lilly.. so to speak.

A scant sprinkling of smoked

sea salt, gives the pops that

little somethin’ extra.

I keep the portions petite, by

using our limoncello shot glasses.

Freeze a liquid base, pop in the sticks

and pour to the brim!

These refreshingly, tart Silver

Margarita Pops will

freeze rapidly…keep in the

ice box nicely and

GO quickly.

Great ALL summer long.

I can hear ‘the Mr.’ now…

‘of COURSE  you used the

good stuff…’

Recipe ~

3  limes

4 or 5 key limes

zest of three  or so key lime

3 tablespoons superfine sugar

Combine limes to equal 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice

1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

1/8 cup silver tequila

splash of Grand Marnier

Makes  7 or  8 small pops ~

Prep:

Dissolve the sugar in the lime and orange juices and spirits.

Add the lime zest. Adjust the flavor to your liking.

Too tart, add a little more sugar and/or O.J.

Pour into small containers, filling one-third full.

Add a few flakes of smoked salt to each glass and freeze.

Pop in your sticks and fill to the top. I cut lollipop sticks in two, for mine.

Dip the Margarita pop containers in a little warm water

and wiggle them free.

Enjoy!
