Get a gander at this ruby rhubarb gem of a sip that I’m serving up at my mini cocktail party at the
Party Crush Studio!
SLURP :)
It’s rhubarb season! I can remember my mom making yummy strawberry rhubarb crisp!
I just had to come up with a rhubarb recipe…
only I was inspired to make a rhubarb martini drop!
What can I say…it’s easy on the eyes and tasty to the palate!
Anyway, rhubarb season is the perfect excuse {as if I needed one} to pull together a mini
ruby red cocktail party for the gals, at my Party Crush studio!
I gussied up the studio a bit with garden flowers and succulents.
All you need for this easy get together is:
an amazing seasonal cocktail, a mini cheese plate topped with just plucked garden herbs,
an assortment of fresh market fruit in ruby red tones, a few squares of dark chocolate…then
gather the gals and get sipping, noshing & gabbing!
Here’s the easy HOW-TO on this delish cocktail number.
First the Rhubarb Simple Syrup!
1 nice stalk of rhubarb diced
3/4 th cup vanilla bean sugar
{ I make my own with caster sugar and a vanilla bean pod leftovers from my baking},
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon orange zest
1 small pod
Simmer and whisk on the stove top until the rhubarb melts into the mixture.
Fish out the vanilla bean pod. Chill.
You will end up with a gorgeous, thick ruby red simple syrup like mine!
{BTW, this syrup is dreamy on ice cream!}
Now for the cocktail!
1.5 shots of good vodka
juice of one small lime
3 tablespoons simple syrup
Place the ingredients in a cool shaker loaded with ice, shake and pour!
About the glass garnishes….
I used a peeler to create pretty rhubarb curls on the glass and
then added a nice fragrant sprig of dill because it’s growing in my kitchen garden right NOW
and I need to find creative ways to use it!
How pretty is this super easy set up!
Here’s the thing…keeping it simple like this, makes it easy to pull together a last minute
mini cocktail party for friends. Make the simple syrup in the morning and you are good to go!
Cheers,
Love the rhubarb curl and Cocktail, just harvested my rhubarb and will do this!
